Mainly elderberries cultivated in Rhineland-Palatinate

In the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate there was a total of 43 farms containing 263 acres of berries in 2014. These figures come from the state's Statistics Office. In total the state produced 1,000 tons of berries. Close to half of all the harvest volume was made up of elderberries. 

The total harvest volume was similar to the volume in 2013. Elderberries took up 177 acres, followed by the 50 acres taken up by currants and the 22 acres growing raspberries.
