BLE market report oranges week 5

Germany: rather stable orange market

On the German wholesale markets, mainly oranges from Spain were present in week 5. The clear majority of Navelina was supplemented with Sulstiana and Navel. The availability was further supplemented with more import of Moroccan Salustiana. Italy mainly shipped Navelina, and Greece the Washington Navel. Egypt began the Valencia Late season with 80-piece boxes.

Below chart in German:

Demand and supply were rather balanced, and prices stable compared to the past weeks. Navelinas from Spain cost 73 cents per kilo, Spanish Salustianas 83 cents per kilo. Navels from Greece yielded 57 cents. Between the Navelinas from Italy and Greece, there was a difference of more than 20 cents: for the Greek, 72 cents was paid, and for the Italian 94 cents per kilo. Large calibres and easy peeler oranges were popular, so the prices of those varieties went up a little. There were few blood oranges on the market, because only Italy supplied those. The first Sanguinelli from Spain yielded up to 18 Euro per 10 kilos.
