Greefa presented a new sorting machine for round fruit at the Fruit Logistica last week. It concerns a sorting machine for the smaller grower. "The MultiSort - as it is named - is compact and fast," says Wim Zeelenberg, export manager of the company. "It's also easy to control with a simple touch screen. Besides this, the machine has an accurate weighing bridge and it unloads the fruits to two sides. Some growers need something small, compact and simple and that's what this machine is."

Greefa is one of the big names when it comes to supplying sorting machines for fruit cultivation. The technology in sorting fruit is advancing every year. "You can hardly see the changes to the outside of the machine," according to Zeelenberg. "The changes are on the inside. We are progressing in camera and LED techniques, speed and accuracy."
"But," he continues, "the more advanced the machine, the larger the investment. Measuring systems and the underlying software can also be very advanced, but also very specific. With this sorting machines almost anything can be sorted by weight: from tomatoes to kiwis and from pears to nectarines. The machine can also process a large variety of sizes and weights, which is ideal for a growers with multiple types of fruit."
