Germany: consumers eating more fruit

Germans are eating more fruit than meat now. German consumers' fruit consumption increased between 2001 and 2012 by 30%, to 97.8 kg on average annually, German magazine 'Apotheken Umschau' reports, based on German Statistical Office figures. The consumption of meat, on the other hand, remained virtually the same at 88.2 kg.

Potatoes lost some of their popularity in the same period: their consumption went down by 21%.
