Germany: Citrus price increase is minimal

Although supply of citrus from the Mediterranean is decreasing, price increases can only be introduced limitedly in Germany, the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) reports on its website. That's because demand has now gone down as well. Perhaps this weekend's expected wintry weather will get sales going again.

At the end of January, German wholesalers are facing slight orange surpluses. In addition, the heavy rainfall in some Spanish production areas affects the quality of fruit that comes in. This has put some pressure on the market. As Easy Peelers, the import of Clemenules and Clemenvilla is decreasing more and more. In their place, more later varieties are imported, such as Hernandinas.
