Germany: more and more people prefer organic

The demand for organic products further increased in Germany in 2014, reports the German website Proplanta.de. The 'Bundesverband Naturkost Naturwaren' (BNN) announced this week that the turnover in the organic branch increased by 8.4% in the first three quarters compared to the same period a year before. These are growth figures that other branches and the conventional food trade can only dream of, explains the BNN.

According to the BNN the consumers have various reasons to chose organic products. A lot of consumers want to contribute to environmental protection with their purchase choices, swear by the taste of organic foods or want to be more healthy. Mainly vegans and vegetarians found countless alternatives in the organic branch, emphasises the BNN.
