Mexico: 9 million cases of apples in controlled atmosphere

Ricardo Márquez Portillo, president of the Chihuahua's Regional Agricultural Fruit Producers Union (UNIFRUT), stated that the apple harvest in Chihuahua, the main producer of this fruit, would yield 9 million cases of the product.

Furthermore, he said that the production in a conventional atmosphere was coming to an end and that they would start producing apples in a controlled atmosphere in February, which has an output of 9 million cases of apples.

"These apple cases will help us ensure the supply for the domestic consumption demand until we have to make use of the 2015 harvest," said Marquez Portillo.

Finally, he said, the product is only for Mexico and its conditions are top quality.
