German pear market dominated by Italy

Pear business was dominated by Italy as usual. This is the result of the German Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) and its market review of week 2/2015. Abate Fetel were located at the top of this range of products. Rosada increasingly replaced Santa Maria and Williams Christian on the market. Their availability had markedly deteriorated. On Frankfurts wholesale market, the Netherlands have determined the trade: Despite the high price of 13 Euro per 7 kg box, the variety Sweet Sensation sold very well. The prices of Conference increased slightly. The German varieties, like Alexander Lucas and Conference, completed the offers in small quantities. The prices remained mostly at the current level. From the USA the variety Anjou appeared on the market. However, hard fruits got hardly any attention on the Berlin wholesale market because the prices were too high.

Demand for fruit on the German wholesale market remains generally stable
Grapes from Namibia and South Africa, also from Peru and Brazil could cover the low demand. The low demand was concentrated on the white and seedless varieties. Because of a steady supply and a low demand, prices were low. Hayward Kiwi from Italy, Greek and France and also the Italian Gold-Kiwi were offered, but business was quite calm. Regular oranges like Navelina and Salustiana from Spain, Navel from Greece and Italy and also Washington Navel from Turkey were dominating the German orange wholesale market. Varieties from South Africa had no significant demand any more. Blood oranges from Italy, like Moro and Tarocco were sufficiently available. Orange business was good, demand could be covered and traders tried to accelerate sales with short-term low prices. Business with mandarin oranges and clementine oranges was quite low. Lemons constantly in demand came mostly from Spain. The prices for lemons have changed only slightly. At the beginning of the year, the demand for bananas on the wholesale market was quite low. The first brand prices rose slightly in some places, while the secondary brands remained the same as the previous week. Lower prices of the third brands were passed on to customers.
