Italy: Latest Fruitimprese data

The latest Fruitimprese data on the first ten months of 2014 has been issued: exported volumes increased by 5.1% and imported volumes by 2.7%, but both were negative in terms of value. The balance was of €695 million (-7.2%). 

Between January and October, Italian companies exported 3.19 million tons of produce for €3.28 billion (-1.6%).

Vegetable exports decreased (-0.9%), whereas fresh fruit (+7.4%), citrus fruit (+4.4%) and dried fruit (+17.9%) did better. The sign was negative in terms of value for all sectors except for dried fruit (+37.7%).

As regards imports, Italy bought 2.7 million tons for €2.59 billion (more or less the same as 2013).

There was an increase in fresh fruit (+3%), tropical fruit (+5.7%) and dried fruit (+23.1%) and a decrease in citrus fruit (-20.8%) and vegetables (-7.3%). The sign was positive for tropical and dried fruit and negative for the rest of the sections.
