The holidays partnered with colder weather in states whichconsume higher volumes of limes caused the lower demand during the beginning ofJanuary. Prices have been subtly increasing which is consistent for January, February,and March. “Historically, these are the highest priced months for limes,” declaresMillan, “as generally the winter months bring the lowest crop yield in Mexico.”
Last year the third week of January saw prices nearlyidentical to the current price of limes. Last year’s lime prices broke allrecords; however the increase in prices was not present until the first week ofFebruary. “Wewill see higher prices in February and March of this year, but nowhere closethe $100.00 mark that we experienced in late February 2014,” states Millan.
