Flower Sprout on markets of many EU countries 2015

The Flower Sprout, a new superfood, is a cross between sprouts and kale and will be available in various European countries such as Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands at the start of 2015. The Flower Sprout has been available in the UK since 2010 in three different stores - Marks&Spencers, Waitrose and Asda.

It is intended that this vegetable will be marketed all over Europe so that everyone can enjoy its unique qualities. In the framework of the 2015 marketing campaign the Flower Sprout will be 'exhibited' at the reputable international trade fair in the section fresh food.(FRUIT LOGISTICA - 4-6 February, Hall 1.2, Stand B-04).

During Fruit Logistica 2015 the Flower Sprout will be officially presented to the world wide media and all professional visitors. This exhibition will take place on the second day of the fair. The presentation will help the brand on its way to creating more awareness of this new vegetable, which has already surprised countless families with its diversity, taste and fantastic characteristics.

This new vegetable is a unique fusion of fresh and nutty flavours. The Flower Sprout was created because people wanted to develop a diverse vegetable with a more subtle taste than a regular sprout, and which also looks appealing. Result: a brand new vegetable with the look of a small cabbage with green shredded leaves and purple stripes. Besides the great look, we can't forget the benefits for out health.

One hundred grams of Flower Sprout contains twice as much vitamin B6 and twice as much vitamin C as regular sprouts. Besides the health benefits, this new vegetable can also be prepared in countless different ways. The Flower Sprout is one of the most diverse vegetables. They can be wokked, baked, grilled or even eaten raw. The unique aromas were immediately liked by both adults and children.

Developing process
The Flower Sprout is the result of 15 years of dedication and hard work by the British vegetable grower Tozer Seeds (based on traditional growing techniques). The Flower Sprout has not been genetically modified, but was developed through traditional hybridisation. Crossing kale with sprouts was a natural step, as both belong to the Brassica Oleracea, which also includes cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. It is a real seasonable vegetable. It can't be grown in the summer. This is why it is only available from November until March. The Flower Sprout was enthusiastically received by the professional sector. The vegetable won third prize at the Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards 2013, a distinction handed out by the visitors to this international trade fair.
