In Germany, the dissatisfaction regarding these changes is huge. Back in October 2014 all the groups of the German parliament were against a complete revision of the EU organic farming regulation. The organic agriculture sector is already growing too slowly in Europe, complain the critics. Development opportunities should not be further hampered by exaggerated demands.
But the last word about these new regulations have not yet been spoken. The European Council and the European Parliament still have to make their decision, "The European Council has already proposed amendments to the regulation," assured Felix Bloch from the Directorate General for Agriculture from the European Commission. Also, European Commissioner Phil Hogan recognized that some of the requirements from the commission were too high.
