Leek prices increase

Last year, the prices for leeks, at all trade levels, were very low. No signs of recovery were noted for a long time. But then, with the Christmas holidays, the prices began to change.

During the Christmas holidays the price for leeks began to rise. But after that the supply began to falter. One reason for that could be the break over Christmas. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks. Selling prices on wholesale markets increased during the year change. Depending on the origin, increases have been between 20 and 35%. Compared to last year, the prices in the first week of 2015 were higher but pale in comparison to the lower prices of the rest of the year. Private costumers felt the price increase. In mid December, the average consumers price made a significant jump of 10 Ct/kg. At the start of the new year, the consumer prices did not increase further.
