Cabbage the most popular brassica in Germany

Cabbage is one of the classic winter vegetables. It provides the body with valuable fibre, vitamin C, provitamin A and B and also calcium, potassium, iron and iodine. This winter vegetable aids cancer prevention (stomach and intestine) and enhances the immune system. It regulates blood pressure, the blood sugar and cholesterol level.

Cabbage is available all year, with the majority coming from German cultivation. The white-yellow heads should be closed, crispy and fresh - without dark spots. Stored in a cool, dry place the cabbage lasts about two weeks. Already cut heads should be covered with foil and stored in the refrigerator.
