The Minister of the Environment in Kananga announced, during a meeting about the protection of the forest last November, plans for the construction of pineapple and mango processing centres in Dimbelenge, Demba and Karumba in Western Kasai by 2015.
The project will be financed by the World Bank and will be carried out following three vital elements : “Degraded forest”, aimed at protecting woodland, “Sustainable forest”, which focuses on reforestation and nurseries, and “Agri-forest” which is based on the association between trees and food crops.
