It's investment time at Caligari & Babbi - the company activated a new grading line just one month ago and it has now announced a new brand, "Fino', the Italian fennel".
"We have decided to start 2015 with a new brand that promotes our fennel. The produce is of Italian origin and available 12 moths a year. It also has a long shelf-life and it is washed with ozonated water, so it is healthy and safe," explains Marco Babbi, sales manager and owner of the company together with Vittorio Caligari (in the photo below).

The new processing line is in fact complete with an ozonizer system. Ozone-enriched water is safe and healthy, so much so that the Ministry of Health has recognised the gas as a natural defence against bacteria, fungi and mould.
"The new brand and the ozonizer plant represent our company policy perfectly - we want to distinguish ourselves on all markets, both domestic and foreign. That is why we are also improving our quality management system in the warehouse."
Quality and safety seem to be the main characteristics, ones that are much appreciated abroad. 30% of the turnover is in fact made abroad thanks to "contacts with the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, UK, Denmark, Belgium and Germany."
"We have launched the new brand at a difficult time - the cold weather over the past few days slightly damaged the produce on fields, so in order to guarantee our high quality standards, we will have to be more careful during processing."
