Chronodrive (Auchan) to close 14 sites in France

The inventor of Click and Collect in France, Chronodrive, has announced that they will “close or give up 14 sites”. They will reorganise services in the company by "reducing staff in some areas”.

In a press release on the 28th November, Chronodrive, a subsidiary of Auchan, estimated that the stores were “unprofitable since their opening.” They explained that “they have seen little or no growth in turnover or clients, and show no profitable perspectives in the average or long term”. According to the company this is due to “structural weaknesses (insufficient flow of traffic and clientèle).”

Chronodrive has yet to communicate which sites are concerned. According to La Voix du Nord, the sites are in the East and South of France. They have not yet stated how many jobs are likely to be withdrawn amongst the 233 employees concerned. The company has, however, said that they will be able to offer internal repositioning because “264 positions are available” within the company.
