Modì® achieves its first production goal

Modì® the eco-friendly apple, a natural cross between Liberty and Gala, patented - by CIV with the name CIVG198*, whose flesh is crisp and juicy, sweet and slightly sour, is making its way both in terms of production and consumer appreciation. The first goal has been achieved with about 700 hectares of CIVG198 * planted in the Northern hemisphere.

This objective will ensure a varietal overall global production of about 30.000 tons within the next few years, achieving a favourable balance between supply and demand of Modì® apples.

The beginning of the 2014-2015 season is considered good, especially with regards to Northern Hemisphere partners, Europeans licensees, Turks, Serbs and Russians, proving the interest of the whole Asian market, with a particular focus on the Russian market. As for the European production instead, Scandinavian and German
consumers are now loyal admirers of Modì® apples, by the same token of North Africa, Far East and Middle East customers.

Modi International value
Modì® development is the result of an international project, with a global perspective. The Modì International platform was created with this aim, and has been consolidated during Interpoma Exhibition 2014; whose development plan aims to reach about a total of 1,000 Hectares globally, of which the 80% located in the
Northern Hemisphere.

The Hectares target will be reached by the partners in the Northern Hemisphere in the next commercial seasons (Modì Europa Spa in Europe, Ozler Tarim Urunleri Uretim Pazarlama San.Ve Tic AS in Turkey, Delta Agrar in Serbia, Zao Sad-Gigant in Russia, NAINN nurseries with Farminton Fresh in the United States of America), whilst in the Southern hemisphere the associated partners have recently undertaken the first
CIVG198 plantings with about 70 Ha of orchards (Frutec in Uruguay, and Graham's Factree Freshmax in Australia), and there might be new hectares added from potential partners in the upcoming years, (i.e. Freshmax Group, New Zealand) to reach an initial target of about 250 ha, or a varietal production of about
10,000 tons.

Pier Filippo Tagliani, Chairman of Modì Europa consortium, appointed by CIV to coordinate the partners in this first phase of the international project declared “With Modì International platform we intend to fully support the principle of strategies and experiences sharing among the partners involved in the international program
with regards to the CIVG198* variety and Modì® brand management, so that every group could find its benefit.”

"Supporting a coordinated and cooperative approach between members working together” confirms Marica Soattin, General Manager of the CIV – “ is what we hope for the overall development of Modì® project worldwide."
