90% of vegetables have customer when being planted

Spain: Mini vegetables from Kernel

From its Spanish supplier Kernel, Smeding has a range of mini white and purple cauliflower, romanesco and broccoli available. In a valley in Spanish Almería, in the middle of the Cabo de Gata natural park, Kernel cultivates fruit and vegetables. Kernel specializes in baby or mini vegetables, including the mini cauliflower and broccoli.

The cultivation company is perfectly situated for organic production. No other farms are in the vicinity, so there's no chance of cross-contamination. Every day, a fresh sea wind blows across the land. This keeps insects and pests at bay. Because the area is protected, only natural crop protection is used. There's hardly any waste. Kernel tries to sell the vegetables before cultivation. 90% of vegetables are already spoken for when they're being planted.

The most recent investment was a biogas installation. With it, vegetable waste is turned into electricity. This way, 40% of the required electricity is generated in a sustainable manner.
