Carrefour and Piccadilly merge in Bulgaria

Supermarket chains Carrefour and Piccadilly will merge in Bulgaria, German website Fruchtnews.de reports. Owner of Carrefour in Bulgaria is real estate company CMB Bulgaria. A few months ago, Piccadilly was sold by the Belgian Delhaize Group to Bulgarian company AP Mart. The merger still has to be officially approved by the Bulgarian competition authority. Both companies will have an equal share in the joint venture.

The new enterprise will thus have a network of 75 stores in Bulgaria, with over 3,000 employees.
