Menno Molenaar, Van Oers United:

"Sprout supply stabilised after great yields"

The sprout market has been disappointing over the last few weeks, but Menno Molenaar of Van Oers United is positive about the current prospects. "The quality has improved greatly compared to the situation in September/October. The great yields of recent weeks are slowing down now and this will continue. I expect this to have a positive effect on the price."

According to the seller, competition from other European countries isn't greater than in previous years. "Large volumes have been sold. Both the export and retail markets have been demanding and all those sprouts have been consumed. The purple sprouts we supply can also rely on lots of attention. As far as we're concerned, we're entering a colder period. A stable supply with a good quality could mean good sales."
