Germans buy more and more spring onions

German consumers have been buying more and more spring onions over the past two years, German website Fruchthandel.de reports. AMI figures show that German households bought 585 grammes of spring onions on average per household from January until September 2014. That was 6% more than in the previous year, and 13% more than in the first 9 months of 2012.

Around 38% of all German households bought spring onions at least once during the past 12 months. This percentage has steadily increased over the past few years. 7 years ago, this percentage was still 34%.
