Friweika invest ten million Euro in new potato warehouse

The well known German potato processor Friweika has started building a new warehouse, reports the German website freiepresse.de. A 6000 square metre hall will be built next to the A4 at Glauchau. In comparison: that's the size of a football field. The investment costs are ten million Euro according to the company.

Friweika's current storage options are no longer enough, which is why they chose the new construction. The potatoes can be stored from the harvest through to the summer of the next year in the new hall. The storage capacity is being raised from 40,000 tonnes to 55,000 tonnes. The hall's show piece is a highly efficient cooling installation which will cool the warehouse during the warm summer months.

The first steps in building the new hall were taken in September. Friweika intends to finish the base work at the end of 2014. Building will then be continued in spring. Completion is planned for August or September 2015.
