Each year, Frankort & Koning sees the volumes of leek increase. "For the Italian market, we also see more and more customers giving us their requirements, so that they're guaranteed a year-round supply of leek, which reaches them in the right packaging and with the correct specifications," says Peter Wijnen, who is responsible for leek at Frankort & Koning.
"With or without roots, the right measurements, in 5, 6 or 10 kg, short or long, you name it. Under our own brand 'Royal Verde' or private label. Your wish is our command. Our growers have gotten used to a wide range of requests," Peter continues. "Around this time, we normally see demand for leek pick up again. Our growers continue to harvest and prepare fresh each day, and the leek is on the Italian customer's doorstep within two days."
