2,000 ‘reserve’ Moroccan workers in Spain

For strawberry picking in Huelva, South Spain, only local manual labour will be used, with a “reserve” of Moroccan workers if needed.

Southern Spain is one of the regions most effected by unemployment and to aid local employment, it has been decided to, like last year, call on local workers for the agricultural season which should start in the next few weeks.

But if necessary, the commission will call on 2,000 Moroccan workers who will only be solicited in case of a need for significant increase in the work pace. This figure is the same as last year and the workers must already have worked in the region to apply.
