Good pickle harvest in the German area of Spreewald
Looking at the total course of the season, this harvest can be called an average, good harvest. Due to the good weather, the harvesting season began in the middle of June, two weeks earlier than last season (2013). Due to bad weather conditions last season (2013), only 35,000 tons of pickles were able to be harvested.
The 'Spreewaldverein' (Spreewald club) reported that in the region eleven farms grew pickles on more than 600 acres this season. The Spreewald region is the second largest pickle growing area in Germany.
