Boris Toledo discovered his talent in this curious technique during breakfast and became a success on social networks. Some producers of this fruit have shown interest in his artwork.
It all started one morning when Toledo was having breakfast and was thinking about Johnny Depp. "I was studying his features for a project I was working on," said the 21-year-old man from Isla de Maipo who loves avocados.
Thus, fork in hand, he began to draw what his imagination dictated on the plate. The result was the face of the Hollywood actor and the discovery of a new technique, the art of drawing with avocados.
Johnny Depp was his first drawing
"I've been drawing since childhood," says Boris, an Industrial Design student, "but I started doing it with avocados in August this year." He posted a picture of Johnny Depp's face on his Facebook and Instagram accounts "and then I had to open an account on other social networks like Twitter and Tumbler because people were looking for me in other social networks."
His success was so fast that before long had 200 people add him on Facebook and his Instagram account rose from 70 to 1000 followers in two months. "I also published the first three drawings in a group of illustrators where they were well received," then the press called him, and that's when he became really popular.
"I eat avocados for breakfast every day and use half of it in each drawing," said Boris in a humble and innocent tone, as if drawing with avocados was normal. He crushes them, adds salt and lime to them, and than makes his drawing.
"What I find most difficult is feeling hungry, that's why I eat the other half," he stated. "My first drawing, Johnny Depp, took a little more ... I was doing it for almost six hours," he says with a laugh, "now I take less than two hours to do them, but I don't draw that much during the week, only at the weekend."

"My dream is for a company to hire me as an illustrator with avocados," he admits. And it may not be far away, as some avocado producers have already shown interest in him so that he draws their logos. Meanwhile, Boris will continue drawing portraits in his spare time.
