Organic Italian kiwi season begins

Organic Italian kiwi are now available to US consumers, thanks to Viva Tierra Organic, Inc. Trial shipments of organic Italian kiwi last season were well received, and anticipation for this season's fruit is high.

Viva Tierra's first shipments of organically grown green Hayward kiwi from Italy arrived on the east coast in late September, and availability is expected to continue into February. Organic Golden kiwi with delicious, bright yellow flesh will arrive in late October, and are expected to be available until the end of the year.

The kiwi are packed with PLU stickers in bulk 9 kg "Viva Tierra Organic" boxes. In addition, the company plans to introduce a branded, 1 lb. retail zipper bag in November. They will be exclusively available from Viva Tierra Organic.

Kiwifruit, with their brilliantly coloured flesh and furry brown exteriors, have been growing in popularity with consumers over the past several years. They are easy and delicious to eat out of hand as well as a great addition to recipes. They also pack a nutrient punch, containing more vitamin C than oranges.
