The Haisheng Group is carrying out an investment program for the production, storage and marketing of apples and soft fruit for the fresh market. They have over 14 fruit companies with a total surface of 800 ha for the cultivation of apples, sweet cherries, kiwis, blueberries and strawberries. They have been importing fruit tress from the Netherlands for 3 years. The Haisheng Group has orientated itself a lot in Europe and the Netherlands to buy suitable technology and products.
On September 26 the Haisheng Group gave the order for the supplying of a complete package of CA (controlled atmosphere) technique and DCS (Dynamic Control System) for a complex of 55 cooling cells with a total storage capacity of 16,000 tonnes for Fuji apples to the joint venture of Storex from s'Gravendeel and FRT from Beijing. Storex and FRT have had a collaboration for the supplying of CA techniques and complete CA projects for the Chinese market for 12 years. The combination of modern CA technique and the presence of a local partner was the basis for Haisheng Group's decision to choose the combination of Storex-FRT.

Picking DCS is a breakthrough for the Chinese market. DCS is a modern storage system in which the apples are stored without using a ripening stopper or chemicals. With DCS the fruit is stored at the lowest possible oxygen level which means the best quality after storage is guaranteed. The fruit then ripens naturally and give an optimal flavour. In China people are very cautious of using chemicals in storage after all the scandals in the food sector. The DCS and CA technique provided by Storex/FRT meets the wishes of the Haisheng group to provide the Chinese market of quality fruit.
