Californian grower expands with Crystal Cove Berry Farms label

Following the recent opening of their new distribution facility and addition of a long-time fresh berry expert, Veg-Fresh Farms announces the expansion of their business and launch of the new consumer label Crystal Cove Berry Farms. Sourcing strawberries throughout Mexico and California’s fertile berry growing regions, Crystal Cove Berry Farms will be a valuable and consistent supplier of fresh berries to foodservice and retail starting in the spring of 2015.

Veg-Fresh Farms’ long-term relationships with their tomato growers were key to the development of this new program. “Many of our tomato growers also grow strawberries and these established connections will allow us to increase efficiencies and add value for both our growers and our customers,” said Veg-Fresh Farms general partner, Dino Cancellieri, Jr. “We are excited to continue providing top quality products backed by Veg-Fresh service to our customers throughout the industry.”

Leading the new category will be industry veteran, Steve Circle, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the Veg-Fresh team. The new brand and product line will be shipped from third party cold storages in all major growing regions and distributed from Veg Fresh Farm’s 189,000 square foot facility in Corona, CA. The distribution centre opened in February 2014 and features 28 shipping and receiving docks and seven cooling rooms with distinct temperate environments to best accommodate the wide variety of fresh products that Veg-Fresh Farms handles. Mr. Cancellieri adds, “Our new facility has been designed to not only serve current customer needs, but also grow with our customers by providing the technologies and logistics required to handle the future of fresh food distribution.”

Veg-Fresh Farms will be hosting tours of the new facility during PMA’s 2014 Fresh Summit expo in Anaheim. To request an invitation to visit and learn more about the Veg-Fresh Farms team, please email jessicag@vegfresh.com
