Algerian customs stops 40 containers from China

Algerian customs stopped forty 20 feet containers full of expired concentrated tomato imported from China that, according to sources, importers wanted to use to hide a transfer of a million Euro towards Asia.

The Algerian customs authorities stopped a network of smugglers who were increasing sums on invoices in such a way that actually threatened the economy. The 40 containers of expired concentrated tomatoes billed for over three million dollars were discovered following thorough investigations and doubts from customs officials in the Port of Alger. Once the investigation was underway and facts were confirmed, they uncovered the 40 containers holding 37,000 boxes of concentrated tomatoes and 12 machines for tomato processing which were billed for almost 4 million Euro.
