En'Diva

Italy: Barbucine endive now available on the market

At Macfruit 2014, French company En'Diva will present Barbucine®, a salad variety born in Paris in 1630 and forgotten for almost a century.

With Barbucine®, consumers will have the pleasure to taste a produce that recalls the flavours of the olden days. "Crunchy, sweet with a hint of bitter..." are the adjectives that best describe this endive. Superseded by Belgian endive between the World Wars, Barbucine® is now back thanks to En'Diva.

In addition to Barbucine®, En'Diva will also present its entire range of endive, such as its 500 g packet of Belgian endive and the Carmine® variety, a sort of red-chicory that combines a slightly sugary taste with a more bitter aftertaste. It is very popular with Italian consumers, who eat it in mixed salads, pasta or rice dishes or even baked.
