First half of 2014

Latest FruitImprese data on Italian foreign trade

According to the latest FruitImprese data, the balance of Italian trade in the first half of 2014 was of €400 million, with a 15.9% increase with respect to the same period of the previous year. There was an increase in exported quantities (+6.9%) though their value diminished (-2.4%). Imports have dropped both as regards quantity (-4.6%) and value (-6.2%). 

Italy exported around 1.84 million tons for a total value of €1.94 billion.

There was an increase in the flow of citrus (+2.8%), fresh (+13.8%) and dried (+23.7%) fruit, whereas vegetables dropped by 1.6%. As regards value, the sign was positive for fresh (+1.4%) and dried (+38.1%) fruit, whereas vegetables (-11.8%) and citrus fruit (-9.9%) did not do as good.

As regards imports, Italy bought around 1.77 million tons of produce for a total value of €1.54 billion.

Fresh (+2.3%), dried (+19.9%) and tropical (+5.7%) fruit did well, but a drop was recorded for vegetables (-6.4%) and citrus fruit (-32%). As regards value, the sign was negative for vegetables and citrus and fresh fruit and positive for dried and tropical fruit.
