Pacbelimex grows in volumes and warehouse space

Import and export company Pacbelimex has grown significantly over the last few years. In December 2013 they therefore decided to move into a new location at Roeselare, near the REO Auction, not far from their first location. Manager Valérie Braems says that they are very satisfied with the new building. "The big advantage is that we have had our warehouse space doubled. We needed this, as our volumes have grown every years. Our main products are strawberries, tomatoes, leek and carrots. We supplied small amount of other products. Courgettes, for example: this was a small product for us to start with, but it has grown hugely recently."

Europe and Scandinavia
Pacbelimex was founded in 1986 and Valérie has been the manager since 2010. "The focus was just on export to France at the start, but later on we added countries like Spain and Italy. We also focus on Eastern European and Scandinavian countries. "It differs by year, but we sometimes sell some products in Russia too. We are glad now that they aren't such an important buyer."

A portion of the products are marketed under the Flandria label. We also present our own brands Delicious and Pacbel. "Delicious is the brand for strawberries and raspberries, and Pacbel is for vegetables. We are also big in Tomabel, we export a lot of tomatoes under this label. We believe it is important to carry top brands, so that we can define ourselves with quality." Besides Belgian products Pacbelimex also imports from Poland. "We have contact with set growers there, so that we know what they supply. We mainly get apples, pears and sometimes tomatoes from Poland. Some of our customers prefer a Polish product."

The new location

Growing in Scandinavia
She believes the future is positive. "Of course we want to continue to grow. We see growing potential in Scandinavia in particular. We are located in a great location: in the heart of the production area in West Flanders, where we get fresh products every day."
