Saxony: juice production in full swing

Now that the apple harvest in the German state of Saxony has begun, fruit pressing plants are also entering the high season, German website Proplanta.de reports.

"The harvest is turning out really well, so we have a lot to do", said Andreas Mehlhorn, chairman of the association of juice producers in Saxony. Until the end of October, allotment gardeners and pickers of standard fruit can bring their apples to fruit pressing plants to have it made into juice.

According to the association, Eastern Germany has 40 fruit pressing plants, of which 30 are located in Saxony. While fruit collectors are queuing up this year, last year the fruit pressers still had to cope with losses.
