Argentinian fruit and vegetables out to win Chinese market

Sixteen Argentine fruit and vegetable companies showed the quality of their products in Hong Kong, as part of the Asia Fruit Logistica fair, which is considered the most important in the Asian continent.

The companies held meetings with business partners from all over the world and their participation at the fair aimed at consolidating Argentina's presence in the vast and dynamic Chinese market, said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

China is the second largest economy in size and one of the most dynamic ones. In 2013, China was the second destination of Argentine exports, which have shown consistent growth over the last decade, with an increase 133%.

Meanwhile, Argentina's fresh fruits and vegetables sector has one of the largest export potentials of the country, thanks to the freshness of their products and their high quality standards that are recognized worldwide.

The Argentine firms (from the provinces of Tucumán, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Mendoza, Rio Black, Salta and Buenos Aires) made sales, established 220 contacts and received more than fifty quotation requests at the fair.

The Argentine pavilion was visited by two of the most important importers from Hong Kong and the Argentine companies also had the opportunity of meeting with representatives of the importing group Park & Shop, which has more than 300 supermarkets in Hong Kong.
