Sales dip for Spanish garlic
Right now the Spanish garlic market is developing quite slowly, with low prices as a result. The most important destinations for the Spanish garlic from Ibergarlic are the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany. The Spanish producer does not feel the effect of the Russian boycott because barely any Spanish garlic is sent that direction. "The quality of the Spanish product is better than last year, and there is a large selection of different sizes of garlic. The harvest is comparable with last year, but the problem is that most of the producers are having a hard time getting rid of the garlic. Garlic is being dumped here and there," says Alexis.
The Chinese garlic appears to not have the same problem that the Spanish are having. "It is another market here, sales are going well. I am very curious as to what will happen in the upcoming years and if the Chinese garlic will become more expensive as the wages increase there."
