Argentina: onion export falls by 41%

Argentinian onion export has fallen in the last season, reports Fresh Plaza. De Barrera Zoofitosanitaria Foundation (FUNBAPA) has indicated a harvest volume of 350,000 tons of onions for the protected region of Patagonia, in which 126,000 tons were exported.

The export volume has fallen by 41% from last year (which was a record year), and by 6% in comparison to 2012. Overall Patagonia exported 126,777 tons of onions last season. 118,000 tons went to Brazil, 8,000 tons went to Paraguay, 714 tons to the EU and 78 tons to the U.S. The export to Europe has clearly fallen in the last few years.
