Kale Sprouts, love child of Brussels Sprouts and Kale, coming to Australia

Introducing for the first time to the Australian market, Kale Sprouts. They’re a 100 per cent natural vegetable created in England by crossing two ‘super foods’, Brussels Sprouts and Red Kale. Veggies haven’t seen this extent of innovation since the release of Baby Broccoli which hit our shelves almost a decade ago.

Background
The aim was to create a milder taste and great plate appeal with all the goodness of both Kale and Brussels Sprouts combined.

These little gems are a brand new vegetable, ten years in the making and look a little like baby kale or a very small open cabbage with green frilly leaves with streaks of purple. Similar to the merging of these two veggies, a collaboration to grow, harvest and market these Kale Sprouts took the united efforts from South Australian farmers Samwell & Sons and marketers Fresh Select.

Grown, like Brussels Sprouts on the stem of the plant and harvested by hand in the pristine fields of the Adelaide Hills, Kale Sprouts really are the innovative and delicious way to enjoy eating an old favourite with a new makeover!

Easy to cook.

After a quick rinse Kale Sprouts can be steamed, microwaved, stir/pan fried, boiled or blanched. Wonderful uncooked finely sliced and tossed through salad with your favourite dressing. Keep stored in the fridge for lasting freshness.

The taste
There’s nothing traditional about these flavours, merging seeds means double the flavour and equals more great taste! Like the mild sweet and nutty hints from the Kale in addition to the perfect punch from the Brussels.

When and Where to buy

Kale Sprouts can be purchased from your local Coles store in South Australia (launching 21st Aug) and will be available until the end of October.
