The theme of the PMA is, "Taking Fresh Produce to the Next Level", and according to Richard Owen VP of Global Development at the PMA this was certainly achieved. "This was the fourth edition and each year it has grown. This year we reached more parts of the industry than ever before including a focus on the vegetable industry, where we looked at the trends in the sector."

"This also saw more delegates from the management level attending. We have attracted new members, continued to build connections and the PMA brand."

The conference also brought other subjects such as energy and water to the forefront as well as discussing the challenges facing the South African producers at home and abroad.

The message which came across was the need to promote fresh produce by better marketing, forming partnerships and encouraging more young people into the sector.

The delegates present came from a broad spectrum of the industry and the general opinion was of a very high quality of speakers and wide range of subjects covered as well as great networking opportunities.
