Deccan Produce will be attending Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong for the third time in September. Nagesh Shetty from the company explains why it is important for Deccan Produce to attend, “As with the rest of the world, Indian exporters are looking more and more to the Asian Market. To us it's even more important to use our capacity to service this market better due to shorter transit times and new product profiles that are appreciated in this market. Asia is taking a larger portion of our business pie now with each passing year. We think it will be the most important market for us soon.”Shetty says they are looking at a few new markets but some of these are inaccessible, but not because of non tariff barriers or such, but because finding reliable partners is what takes time. “But we are hopeful that we can get into them this year as we have built a certain understanding of these markets and are already in touch with potential business partners, which is why exhibiting here is important to us.”
Deccan are concentrating on grapes and pomegranates for the Asian market. Setty hopes this market also starts appreciating India's mangoes, but understands that this will take time and awareness will definitely grow in time.”
The goal for Deccan Produce at the moment is to improve the reach of their existing produce. New products will be added once they are convinced they have topped their market reach.
