Norbert Dentressangle swoops in the US as figures climb

Logistics giant Norbert Dentressangle, which has UK headquarters in Northampton, has reported steady growth with improved profitability as it makes a $750m acquisition in the US.

The French business has agreed to buy Jacobson Company to gain traction in the fast-growing market. It will increase Norbert Dentressangle's annual revenues by €600m.

First-half turnover at the company was up by 13.4 per cent to €2.19bn, with growth registered across all its division. EBITDA for the six months to 30 June 2014 also climbed by 19 per cent to €65.5m.

Norbert Dentressangle chief executive Hervé Montjotin said: "The first half of 2014 took place in a European economic environment, which was boosted by growth in the UK economy and recovery in Spain.

Against this backdrop, and despite flat activity in France, Norbert Dentressangle capitalised on its ever-expanding global footprint and its positioning within buoyant sectors.

"Our three business lines – logistics, transport and air and sea – are all well on course in terms of growth and profitability, in accordance with our expectations.

"Norbert Dentressangle is a group built on firm foundations and satisfies all the assets for successful consolidation of its new strategic acquisition in the US."
