Man killed in helicopter crash, whilst flying over cherry orchard

One person was killed in a Wednesday afternoon helicopter crash in Chelan County.

The crash happened at around 2 p.m. near a cherry orchard owned by Stemilt Growers, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

Stemilt's Roger Pepperl said the chopper was flying above the orchard to dry the cherries when it crashed, killing the pilot. The pilot was alone in the chopper at the time and no one on the ground was injured.
