Record blueberry year expected in Quebec

The lack of water over the last few weeks has not affected the taste of blueberries which are being harvested since last Wednesday. A record year is expected with harvest that could potentially weigh up to 60 million pounds.

Blueberry buyer, Ghislain Morin says, ''look how big they are’’, and unlike strawberries they are very sweet.

It could be a good season for chocolate blueberries, ''it is not the quantity of blueberries picked over the season that influences the number of boxes of chocolate blueberries produced. What shows a good season is when the harvest starts early like it has this year’’ says Dominique Genest, Director General of the Chocolaterie. The Trappistes created this blueberry delicacy, and since 1967 have been producing this seasonal product as soon as harvest begins. Père Trappiste chocolate blueberries can be found all over Quebec in many stores.
