In May of this year, Russia imported 18% fewer pears than in the same month last year. In total, the Russian market imported only 31,000 tonnes of pears.

Compared to the previous month of April, the import, according to information from 'Fruitinform', even decreased by 37.5%, making it the lowest value of the past five years. In the period between July 2013 and May 2014, however, Russian pear import reached a volume of 355,000 tonnes, which is a growth of 4% compared to the previous year.
