Melon and artichoke prices increase in France

According to the Relaxnews price barometer, the price of Charente melons has increased by 12% in a week, but still remains lower than in 2013 at €1.43/a piece compared to €1.81.

Artichokes are the fresh product that has seen the biggest price increase over the week, up 12% to €1.32/ a piece.

However, yellow French peaches have dropped 13% to €2.51/kilo. The decrease is less strong for foreign varieties at -10% to €2.29/kilo. Round French tomatoes have decreased by 13% to €1.76/kilo.

The Relaxnews price barometer is made every Wednesday using information from the Market News Service, under the Ministry of Agriculture. Every week 20 or so SNM employees record the retail prices of 150 products (fruit, vegetable, meat, fish…) in 150 medium and large supermarkets all over France (a representative sample of household consumption in France, conducted by Sofres).
