Fifteen millionth organic sweet potato arrives at Eosta

Last week, Eosta celebrated the arrival of the fifteen millionth organic sweet potato in Europe, together with supplier Jose "Pepe" Calderon of Farmpak. A few years ago, Eosta began importing this trendy product from North Carolina to Europe, and since then sales have gone up every year.

Sander Dijkslag and Jose "Pepe" Calderon show the 15 millionth organic sweet potato

Jose Calderon, export manager at Farmpak, visited Eosta in the Netherlands last week, and was pleasantly surprised when he was taken outside for a photo session with the fifteen millionth sweet potato. Product manager Sander Dijkslag explains: "Each year we have seen a large increase in revenue, and we are convinced that this increase will continue even further. The great demand for this special product is not the only reason for success, however. It's also a reward for the consistent quality and excellent logistics at Farmpak."

Jose Calderon is a happy man: "We are very enamoured by the fact that Eosta shows the story and the people behind our products through the Nature & More transparency system. A lot of people in Europe still know very little about the positive qualities of the sweet potato, and its delicious flavour and versatility, which is why it's so important that Nature & More informs them well. For instance, did you know that despite its name, the sweet potato has a lower glycemic index than normal potatoes? In fact, the two crops aren't even related!"

Barbecuing? The ideal vegetable!
When asked how "Pepe" prefers to eat the sweet potato back home in North Carolina, he smiles: "Wrapped in aluminium foil and roasted on the barbecue... and when they're done, sprinkle them with fresh lime juice and Mexican herbs... really delicious!"
