Five Arab companies will visit Expoalimentaria 2014

The UAE will buy Peruvian fruits and vegetables

As part of Expoalimentaria fair, several buyers from the UAE expressed their interest in acquiring Peruvian fruits and vegetables in the coming months.

It will be the first time that representatives of Fit Fresh LLC, T-Choithram & Sons, Kibsons, Al Ahlia Foodstuff Division and Yalda Trading visit Peru to negotiate, and the second time that Oasis Foods International visits the country.

"We are interested in buying all kinds of fruit and vegetables, especially asparagus, Peruvian Hass avocados and mangoes, for which demand is greater in the UAE. Our expectations are to invest U.S. $ 100,000 per month, "confirmed Xavior Borguo Thomas, Purchasing Manager of Fit Fresh LLC, a company dedicated to the import of vegetables and fruits.

The company, owned by Ali Albwardy, a member of one of the most well known business families in Dubai, has clients that include the restaurant chain McDonald's and major airlines like Emirates Airlines and Qatar Aircraft.

Meanwhile, T-Choithram & Sons LLC expects to invest between $200,000 and $300,000 dollars in Peruvian fruits and vegetables. "Currently, there is a great demand for quinoa and other Peruvians products in the UAE market," said Kamal Talkani, representative of that company.

Kibsons, which is also interested in the same products, believes the investment could vary depending on the products and the contacts they make at Expoalimentaria.

"We'll invest approximately $900,000 dollars in grapes and $300,000 in asparagus and avocado. However, these numbers might increase significantly depending on the product varieties, quality and suppliers, "said Daniel Cabral, the company's procurement manager.

Meanwhile, Oasis Foods International, a company that imports a variety of products from countries like Spain, Italy and Turkey, will participate again in Expoalimentaria because their past experience was more than satisfactory.

"This time we want to invest in canned fruits and vegetables, juices, pulp, concentrates, and frozen seafood," noted Paul George, manager of business development for the company.

T-Choithram & Sons, Al Ahlia Kibsons and Foodstuff Division have also expressed their interest in buying value-added products, such as canned fruits and vegetables, juices, pulp and concentrates.

These negotiations will take place at Expoalimentaria Fair 2014, the largest international trade platform in the food sector in Latin America, which will be held in Lima on August 27, 28 and 29 at the Jockey Exhibition Centre. Expoalimentaria 2014 is organized by ADEX with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, MINAGRI, RR. EE., Produce and PromperĂș.
