Chilean blueberries and kiwis stand out in London

Chilean kiwis and blueberries marked their presence in the London Produce Show and Conference, which brought together hundreds of key representatives of the fruit, vegetables and flowers industries from around the world.

ProChile, the Fruit Exporters Association of Chile AG, ASOEX and the Kiwi and Blueberries Committees from Chile organized Chile’s participation. During the event, both the Kiwi and Blueberries Committees had stands that were attended by representatives of ProChile in the UK.

"Participating in this type of initiative is very important because it allows us to visualize new market niches, promote the diversification of our exports and strengthen the position of our blueberries," said Andrew Armstrong, executive director of the Chilean Blueberry Committee.

Armstrong added they had also organized a culinary master class conducted by Chef Adam Degg, who made several recipes in which the main ingredient was the Chilean Blueberry, to support the promotion of Chilean blueberries in the UK. The menus were developed for the foodservice distribution channels (hotels, restaurants and catering).

Meanwhile, Carlos Cruzat, president of the Chilean Kiwi Committee, said: "We had a stand in which we promoted, among European distributors, those member companies of our organization that are actively implementing protocols to improve the Chilean kiwi's condition and maturity, so that the end user can enjoy a healthy, nutritious and tasty product."

"The government is always supporting the growth and development of our exports, so participating in such events is key, especially because we can show, via our Frutas de Chile brand and our sub-brands, Blueberries from Chile and Kiwis from Chile, that the fruit industry is united and reliable, "said Cristian Lopez, director of ProChile in the UK.

Fresh Produce Consortium and Produce Business organized the first edition of the London Produce Show. The show was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, between June 5 and 6, and it attracted more than a thousand participants representing 140 exhibiting companies and visitors from different parts of the world, including Russia, the Middle East, South Africa, Italy, Germany, Scandinavia, USA, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, Chile and the United Kingdom.
