after bankruptcy

"Kivits-Drunen and Goes family start Goes Handling operation"

On June 25, 2014 Kivits-Drunen and the Goes family reached an agreement with Mr. W.J.M. van Andel, the trustee of the Goes companies during bankruptcy, to achieve a sustainable operation in the Handling Center of Goes Handling B.V. Goes is a family company in the logistics sector, with 4 generations active in the company. The international transport sector had a rough time the last few years which eventually resulted in a bankruptcy. But the activities of Goes Handling were profitable.

Kivits-Drunen is a third generation family company. They see their role in conditioned food products within the logistics sector. Kivits has approximately 160 employees, 30.000 m2 of conditioned warehousing and a fleet of 100 small conditioned trucks. Kivits is constantly looking to add value to the logistics chain through deploying its sister company that is active in forwarding (K&H Forwarding BV), logistics process engineering (Boostlogix BV) and in the packing of products (Boostpacking BV).

Kivits was on the tipping point of doubling its new conditioned distribution center in Waalwijk (built 2011) in order to develop and manage properly, when talks with the Goes family arose in response to the bankruptcy of the Goes companies. Very quickly there seemed to be a great deal of trust among the two and there seemed to be many advantages in merging. "This step with Goes Handling Center gave us the room to be able to develop further. It also allowed us to continue granting the right services to our clients and we expect a higher efficiency because we will be able to implement many processes in different areas at the same time," says Rob van Opzeeland, director Kivits-Drunen BV.

The volumes from Kivits and Goes supplement each other quite well. Also, the additional services that Kivits offers its clients are also of interest to Goes clients" indicates Ad Goes. Ad Goes will, as director, be responsible for the operations of the new Goes Handling Center.

The consortium Kivits - Goes is one of the top players in the area of fresh logistics with almost 50.000 m2 of conditioned warehousing. They have a storage capacity of almost 30.000 pallets, specifically designed for overseas fruit. In-order and packaging, intricate picking, order management and EDI-invoicing all belong to the daily processes. Throughout the consortium, the cold storage's use a custom warehouse, a plant health control location and a BRC and/of IFS certification. Naturally all the locations are equipped with the up-to-date Warehouse Management System. The goal of Kivits-Drunen BV and the new Goes Handling Center BV is adding value to the supply chain through intensely working with the right partners.
